The Winter 2011 Edition explores the era when canals were among the most reliable forms of transportation in the United States. Historic Roscoe Village is a restored canal town in central Ohio and is featured as the Cover Story in the video. Our journeys also include a trip to Sedalia, Missouri for the Off the Beaten Path segment and the Petrified Forest in Arizona for Scenic America. The Cincinnati Brass Band delivers a lively performance for the On a Musical Note segment. For the Seasonal Feature, we go back to Roscoe Village for a Christmas candlelighting ceremony and to learn the origin of modern holiday traditions.

SCENIC AMERICA: An array of colors and unusual landscapes shape the beauty of the Petrified Forest in Arizona. The area is known for its fossils, especially of fallen trees that lived 225 million years ago. |
ON A MUSICAL NOTE: British brass bands include instruments that differ from traditional concert bands and orchestras. The Cincinnati Brass Band performs more than a dozen times each year and competes with similar bands across the country. |
OFF THE BEATEN PATH: Exhibits at the historic Katy Depot in Sedalia, Missouri highlight the impact of the railroad in the community. Sedalia also hosts the Missouri State Fair & the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival each year. |
TIME CAPSULE: This segment is a preview of another Sentimental Reflections video: Our Best Sentimental Journeys. Some of our best time capsules include antique and classic cars. Other popular segments include the Steamboat Arabia, which was dug out of a cornfield, and a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere that was unearthed in Tulsa, Oklahoma. |
