City Bus Rules
With the three Deviated Fixed Routes it is necessary to catch the bus by standing at a Frankfort Transit bus stop sign. Be ready at least 5 minutes before the bus is due to arrive.
To board a bus stand near the curb and wave to the bus. Do not wait on a curve, next to a right-turn lane, or on the opposite side of the street from the bus. Drivers are not authorized to stop for passengers flagging down the bus on the opposite side of the street.

Baggage & Groceries
Four Grocery bags and parcels are permitted on Frankfort Transit vehicles, but passengers must maintain control over these items and carry them on the bus themselves in one trip.Drivers will not assist with groceries and parcels. Frankfort Transit will make reasonable accommodations to passengers with disabilities that need more assistance. Items with wheels, such as carts or strollers, must be collapsed during travel.

The following are not permitted:

• Large items that restrict movement within the bus.
• Items which are dangerous or offensive to other passengers.
• Baggage that requires excessive time to load or unload.
• Items that could not be controlled if the bus braked suddenly.

Service Animals & Pets
Service animals are welcome on Frankfort Transit vehicles, if you travel with a service animal, please let the schedulers know when you book your trip.

Mobility Aids
Frankfort Transit buses accommodate all wheelchairs, scooters or other mobility devices up to the maximum physical dimensions and constraints of the bus. F/T vehicles have lifts and ramps with an 800 pound capacity. Drivers are trained to safely operate wheelchair lifts and secure mobility devices on the bus.

Scooter users are asked to transfer to a seat after boarding. Most scooters cannot be tied down as securely as a standard wheelchair and are not designed for use on a moving vehicle.

Other mobility devices such as walkers and canes are accommodated. Passengers that have trouble with steps may ride the lift. Respirators and portable oxygen are also permitted.

Personal Care Attendants & Companions
Please let the scheduler know if you are traveling with a PCA or companion.

A Personal Care Attendant (PCA) rides free of charge with any passenger with a disability. PCAs provide assistance to disabled riders beyond that which can be provided by the driver.

Extreme Weather Policy
Frankfort Transit may curtail Transit operations if travel conditions are unsafe. F/T will notify any passengers affected by a cancellation of service and offer early return trips for riders transported prior to the onset of unsafe conditions. Bicycles
Frankfort Transit welcomes bicycle riders to travel on the bus with their bikes. Every Deviated Route bus is equipped with two bike racks. Standard bicycles are not permitted inside Transit Vehicles. Learn more...
 

In accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Frankfort Transit operates its programs without regard to race, color and national origin.

Frankfort Transit has an established process in place to deal with complaints of discrimination. For more information about Frankfort Transit’s obligations under the Title VI, or if you have a complaint, contact Frankfort Transit’s Superintendent at 502-352-2090.

Is a set of rules of the F/T providing standards of conduct and behavior applicable to all users of F/T services and/or facilities, to ensure the safety and security of all passengers, drivers and the public at large. Posted on all F/T buses and the F/T website. A copy is available upon request from all F/T drivers.

WHILE USING FRANKFORT TRANSIT VEHICLES/FACILITIES, PLEASE OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING RULES:  THIS CODE OF CONDUCT IS A RULE OF THE FRANKFORT TRANSIT, PROVIDING STANDARDS OF CONDUCT AND BEHAVIOR APPLICABLE TO ALL USERS OF FRANKFORT TRANSIT (FT) TRANSIT SERVICES AND/OR FACILITIES, TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND COMFORT OF ALL PASSENGERS, DRIVERS AND THE PUBLIC AT LARGE.

• No explosives or flammable substances. No car batteries, Gas can.

• No action creating a nuisance for driver or passengers, no engaging in fighting, threatening harm to persons or property, or violent, unsafe or criminal action in or around Transit buses or bus stops.

• No yelling, screaming, singing, playing musical instruments, or use of any other sound amplification devices (without headsets) including cell phone ringtones.

• No smoking, eating, drinking, chewing gum, roller skating, skateboarding, or bicycling on board a Transit vehicle or under a transit shelter covering. All drinks must have a screw on lid.

• No animals, insects or reptiles, except service animals.

• No profanity, teasing, sexual/racial slurs or gestures, threatening/offensive language and no public displays of affection.

• No person shall interfere, in any manner, with the safe operation or movement of any Transit vehicle.

• No person shall hinder or prevent the movement of persons on any Transit vehicle or any Transit property so as to interfere with the rights of others.

• No solicitation, panhandling, begging, or loitering. Have fare in hand before bus arrives. Cannot solicit fare from other passengers on city property.

• No use or public display of offensive or pornographic materials or media.

• No person shall intentionally or recklessly harass or annoy another person.

• No littering, spitting, expectorating, defecating, or urinating.

• No person shall use or possess alcohol or illegal drugs on/in a Transit, if intoxicated service will be denied.

• Appropriate clothing (shirt and shoes) is required of all passengers.

• Exact fare required.  Frankfort Transit fare boxes accept coins, bills, bus tickets. Operator does not make change or accept/handle money.

• All Demand Response, J.A.R.C and Fixed Route Deviations must make reservations 24hrs in advance, 2:30 PM the day before. Only passengers who make reservations will have return rides to include Fixed Route deviations.

• Monthly passes must be shown to driver every time you board the bus. KSU students and staff must show valid ID every time they board the bus. No pass, No KSU ID you must pay no excuses. If a passenger attempts to use and expired monthly pass or invalid KSU ID they will be put off the bus and possibly banned from all Transit Services.

• Do not talk to the bus operator while the bus is in motion.

Passengers who refuse to comply will be asked to leave the vehicle or facility immediately. In addition, local law enforcement agencies can and will cite those in violation.  For more information please call 875-8565
